My name is Shantelle Richins, hence the name of the blog Rooms by Richins. I am a wife, mom, Interior Designer and more. I have one daughter, one large dog and one cat that thinks she is a dog. I like to stay creative in any way possible. It might be making quilts, creating birthday parties, designing fabric, graphic design, space planning a room or trying a craft or two. Anything that involves creating I am in!
I graduated from Utah State University with a bachelors in Interior Design. I had big plans of designing large homes and grand offices. I planned on traveling the world to see it all. Life had different plans for me. I ended up staying in Utah and working for various Commercial Design firms. While living the single life, I ended up meeting my best friend. A cowboy, fireman and accountant from Utah County. I had no plans ever of living in Utah County. Well that all changed once we got married and now I am probably a current resident of the county for life.
The commuting life to down town SLC was getting to me and I found a design job close to home. Welcome BYU into my life. For 5 years I have worked as an Interior Designer in the Physical Facilities department. I have designed several offices, lobbies, conference and cubicals. Who would have thought that I would be working at BYU and living in Utah County and loving it. During this time I had my daughter. For two years I worked only two days a week. I had the perfect schedule but it came to an end. My job needed me to work more. My husband and I decided the best thing for us was for me to stay home. So now here I am and hence starting a blog.
